When I was a little kid, I would stay up watching Nick at Nite. There was something about the film grain, typography, and wood panels on the walls that spoke to me. Imagine my surprise when I would get to use that inspiration for AOT’s annual powerhouse variety show, “Divas & Drag”. We chose a location downtown St. Paul, Apostle Supper Club, because the vibe there oozes I Dream of Jeannie. The low light provided me the opportunity to set up with haze for some texture, and an rgb light to enhance some of the compositions. They even had a tiki bar and mirror wall!
